The DADF#AD Laboratory Bench

At the heart of the current cycle of work lies the DADF#AD tuning and its evolving family of variants. This tuning, already rich in overtones and emotional nuance, becomes a field of controlled experimentation: shifting a single string, altering one interval, or changing the voicing of a familiar shape can transform the entire emotional weather of a piece.

• DADF#AD variants — exploring subtle retunings of the second and fifth strings to open portals into different resonance fields, from prayerful stillness to tectonic release.
• New chord voicings — testing inversions and voice-leading paths that prioritize sustained resonance, sympathetic string activation, and a sense of three-dimensional space in the sound.
• Resonance field research — holding single chords for extended durations while tracking breath, somatic response, and energetic movement in the room and body.
• Therapeutic applications — documenting how specific chord constellations support grounding, grief processing, nervous system settling, and gentle emotional catharsis.

Each experiment is logged as a manuscript entry: tuning, chord shape, playing pattern, physical and emotional responses, and any phrases or images that arise in the field. Over time, these notes reveal patterns — certain voicings that consistently open the chest, others that clarify the mind, others that invite tears or deep exhale.

Field Notes from the Resonance

These notes gather impressions from live sessions, solo explorations, and ongoing listening practice. They do not aim to be exhaustive or definitive; instead, they trace the contours of how sound behaves as a subtle agent of transformation.

Somatic mapping — correlating particular intervals and voicings with sensations in the body: warmth in the chest, tingling along the spine, softening in the jaw, tears without narrative.

Overtone constellations — tracking how particular chord shapes bloom into layered harmonics, and how slight adjustments in touch, nail angle, or sustain shift the perceived brightness, depth, and emotional color of the field.

Harmonic series conversations — listening for which partials become most prominent at different dynamic levels, and how they interact with the living acoustics of each room, body, and moment.

Sympathetic resonance — noting when unplayed strings begin to sing on their own, and how those emergent tones relate to what is moving in the listener’s emotional or energetic landscape.

New Developments

This section records the latest ideas, discoveries and directions emerging from the Resonance Laboratory. It follows the work while it is still alive and changing, before every result has found its final place.

New developments may include fresh chord voicings, alternative fingerings, tuning variations, song fragments, rhythmic patterns, technical solutions, recording ideas and connections between music, history, philosophy, science and well-being.

Some entries may later become part of a workbook, song, Live Book, website page or future Resonantia Animae Home. Others may remain as useful experiments that helped clarify what works, what does not, and why.

Each development is dated and described in context. Promising ideas are tested again before being presented as established parts of the method.

The purpose of this section is not to announce perfection. It is to show how the work grows: through curiosity, practice, correction, reflection and return.
